VOLUNTEER/COMBINATION

The volunteer committee is encouraging volunteer chiefs from across the state to become members of the association and be a part of deciding the future of the fire service in Tennessee. As a part of our membership drive, the association has waived the annual membership fee for the first year for any new member. The volunteer committee meets quarterly and at the annual conference of the association.

Objectives:

The primary focus of the volunteer committee is to provide training to volunteer chiefs. Our training programs focus on issues that pertain to volunteer departments. Legal and legislative issues are among topics often used in training. Networking among chiefs during these meetings has also proven to be very beneficial. Many ideas and accomplishments originated from networking. Representatives with Insurance Services Office (ISO), MTAS, and CTAS often attend these meetings to provide training and support to volunteer chiefs.
